London Trip Work Diary

When taking photo's in the Trafalgar Square area in London whilst on our 4th plinth project, I tried to focus on landscape and street photography style shots. I enjoyed the challenge as I really love London.

In this image, I tried to take a street photography styled portrait, I really love this image as the flash really gives it a sense of life, and lights it up against the dark backdrop, the image is of Grace looking at her camera, the image seems to capture the moment really well as she is clearly finding something very funny and really gives to the idea of youth and the excitement of London as a whole. The image has drastic change of tone because of the flash. The frame of the shot is effective as it shows the main subject and point of the image which makes well use of space.

This image is of Trafalgar Square, the image seems to capture changes in tone really well, and the colours are all really interesting and overall the clarity is very clear. The tones are all very mute and uniformed as there are few dark toned parts of the image, and the vibrant colour of the lighted fountain seems to draw the viewer in, and one can see all the individual windows very clearly. The buildings all stand out against the blank backdrop of the sky, you can clearly see the jagged shape of the buildings against the sky.

  1. A good post George there s a good evaluation of the emotions and business of London, Be careful in grammar. "The image has drastic change of tone because of the flash"... You could say "the strong contrast in tone" and "the tones are very mute and unified" = muted
