Colour Work Diary

When shooting colour i wanted to try and shoot natural and man-made to add variation in terms of types of colours, because of where we shot being harlow town, obviously there wasn't a lot of natural imagery, so we had to make do.
I like this image a lot because of the very mute changes and differences in colour, for example the main statue being the main subject of the image is grey in colour, which changes tones a little, the backdrop is very blank and pale, grey bits of colour are seen in lamp posts and buildings, this means that the statue contrasts and really stands out against the backdrop and rest of the image.
For this image i wanted to shoot nature as i wanted to shoot more natural colours, in this picture i shot a silver birch tree, the picture shows off a lot of detailed changes in colour, for example the trees are very white and pale and the darker patches are green and grey in colour this matches the same colour as the pots that the trees are living in this works well in composition, the backdrop being quite colourless buildings make the trees really stand out.
Progression- I really like this image as it actually shows the variation and lots of different colours, the ordering of the pencils is a great idea as it is a controlled variable, they can be put in any order to show off their colour, this is a great idea for any type of object to show the changes in colour.
I like the colours in this image as they're all natural and all seem to contrast really well, as all the colours are quite similiar in tone this gives a really cool neutral effect, this is something that i would like to shoot as there are lots of different types of shell which makes for great variation in colour.

  1. A good post.. but please be careful wrt to spelling and grammar i = I and the use of terminologies should be improved i.e. "very mute changes and differences in colour" does not really make sense...
