Henri-cartier Bresson and Sally Mann

The two photographers are quite similiar in some aspects as, such as the way both photographers shoot documentary shots, and real life situations as most shots are composed of a place and people within that place, that describes a situation. Both photographers are from two completely different era's as Bresson was born in 1908 and died in 2004, whereas Mann was born in 1951, The majority of Mann's work is a publication of a specific topic all shot in America, for example Deep south composed entirely on that particular topic. Also most of Mann's topics are portraiture work like Bresson's but once again on one particular topic in one particular place such as; 'At twelve: portraits of young women' published in 1988 which "captured the confusing emotions and developing identities of adolescent girls", Mann deals with particularly dark subject matters, however both shoot controversial topics, Bresson was the first western photographer to photograph freely in post-war soviet union. One of the great differences between the two photographers is that Bresson shot all over the world including; China. Mexcico, Canada, United States, India, Japan and the Soviet Union etc, Bresson's work is considered very important and full of historical context for example; he documented some of the great upheavals of the 20th century — the Spanish civil war, the liberation of Paris in 1944, the 1968 student rebellion in Paris, the fall of the Kuomintang in China to the communists, the funeral of Mahatma Gandhi, the Berlin Wall, and the deserts of Egypt. And along the way he paused to document portraits of CamusPicassoColetteMatissePound and Giacometti. whereas Mann's work is considered current and socially and politically challenging. Bresson's most famous work is called 'The decisive moment', this is a collection of seemingly unimportant moments of ordinary daily lifethese are some  of his most renowned photographs, such as Behind the Gare St. Lazare.

  1. Some good contextual information is posted here, but there is a need for you to analyse the images you post.... (denotation, connotation). The second issue to comment on is Grammar, lower case i and lower case on place names soviet union and Deep south is not acceptable.
